Rory knows Lorelai so well. We also all know that the level of energy REQUIRES constant caffeine!
Our old home in Utah got it’s first real snow of the season. I had never seen snow as a child. Snow falling is majestic! It is also loathsome when you actually have to get anything accomplished IN the snow. Driving to work or to meetings or driving in general was awful in the snow. I’ve been gone for just long enough though that I long for the snow. I can’t say I love snow as much as Lorelai but sometimes I get close.
What is your favorite season?
Thanksgiving is coming up quickly. Although I am already looking ahead to Christmas, planning our advent calendar, and gifts, I still love to make room for Thanksgiving. It never used to be a favorite of mine but now that we have begun hosting Thanksgiving in our home it has changed the holiday for me.
This year we will have seven adults and three kiddos around our table and we are so excited. I really enjoy entertaining and I’m learning how to cook. Lucky for us, after two years of a failed Turkey, my wonderful Father-in-Law will be teaching me how to do a turkey using the bag method. Everyone will be bringing some of their own dishes but I’m here to show you some of my favorite recipes and some new recipes I’m excited to try. I’ll be honest and tell you that these dishes are not diet friendly BUT as always you might be able to alternate things and make it a little healthier!
This copycat of Ruth’s Chris Sweet Potato Casserole is a MUST. You can even make a dessert out of it by topping it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Emeril’s Andouille Cornbread Dressing is a great way to add a little kick to the tastebuds.
This Spinach Madeline from the Junior League of Baton Rouge can be an appetizer or side dish. Junior Leagues around the world are known for their wonderful and creative recipes, so I am excited to try this one.
Lastly, this Cream Corn with Bacon Crumble look sooo yummy!!
Before I forget, these hemstitched napkins will be on our table this year. Linen napkins are just so classic and add that homey feel I want.
What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?
Michel, is one of the most amazing secondary characters of the show. His cynicism is so refreshing 😉 There is very little that made Michel happy during the show except Celine Dion and apparently cotillions. Michel hates kids, except for the cotillion debutantes. Here is one of my favorite quotes from him!
TGFTH – Thank goodness for the holidays! It means all the yummies make their excellent debut! This Rory quote is so spot on:
It’s Monday. After a great weekend celebrating my future sister-in-law, it can be hard to get back to reality. What are some things you do to make Monday’s more bearable?
Sometimes you have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and be better than ever!
In honor of the weekend, and if you’re a parent like me, this is for you.
Prior to my bundle of joy, I loved waking up early. Now, I HAVE to wake up early and it takes all the joy out of it. It’s not like I’m getting things accomplished or packing up for a sporadic weekend trip. Le sigh.
Fun fact, I scared the crap out of a nurse after giving birth because I had one of these sleep masks. She walked in while I was getting rest and did not expect that! Maybe it will work with kids too?
Lorelai and Rory sure knew how to pack away the food (without packing on the pounds… or exercising)! Can we get an Amen for those metabolisms?! One of the favorite foods of Lorelai was pancakes. If you recall Al’s Pancake World was a bucket list item. Here is my little ode to pancakes.
Oh, Luke, you sure do know about love. You may be eternally grumpy but you and Lorelai were meant to be! We miss your backwards hat and grumpy ways.
